Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

RisingMinds Advanced Therapy Center is located at the following address:

315 East 400 South
Bountiful, UT 84010

If you take I-15, get off on the 500 South exit and head East. Turn left on 300 East and go one block.

How far are you from Salt Lake City?
According to Google, we are 15 minutes from downtown Salt Lake City. We think it is worth the drive. 🙂
Is your office accessible?

Our building is older, but we can easily accommodate wheelchairs through the West door.

Some offices, a restroom, and our group room are wheelchair-accessible.

If you need assistance or prefer to use the side door, please call us at (801) 661-2794.

What are your office hours?
We are open by appointment only, but we’re usually in the office five days per week, including some evenings.
What do I do to get started?
Please send us an email or give us a call at (801) 661-2794.
How do I pay?
We take cash payments and cards, including HSA. Payment is expected at the time of service.
Do you accept insurance?
We take some types of insurance, but many choose to pay cash to maintain their privacy.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, you can cancel an appointment with at least 24 hours’ notice without penalty. This allows us to offer the time to someone else who may need it.
What is a free initial phone consultation?
It’s an opportunity to speak with a therapist, ask questions, and determine if they’re the right fit for you before committing to therapy.
Is a therapist like a coach?
Not quite. Unlike coaches, who aren’t required to have formal education or licensing, a therapist must have an advanced degree and a state-issued license to provide legal and professional mental health treatment.
Will a therapist just talk to me? How does that help?

Therapy goes beyond casual conversation with a friend.

Extensive research supports various therapeutic techniques tailored to specific challenges.

At RisingMinds, we prioritize training so we can provide effective, evidence-based support.

What is neurofeedback? Is it like electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)?
No, neurofeedback is very different from ECT. It’s a non-invasive technique that helps calm the nervous system and improve neuro-regulation, allowing the brain to heal itself naturally.
Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions?
Yes, we welcome and enjoy working with individuals from all backgrounds.
What is EMDR? Is it the same as ART?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain process and reframe information.

ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) is similar but builds on EMDR by incorporating symbolism and creativity to help desensitize and process trauma more effectively.

Do you offer video or phone sessions?
Yes, we offer both telehealth sessions and in-person sessions.
What kind of groups do you have in your practice?
We have an excellent DBT group that is fun and experiential.
Is our work confidential?
Yes, therapists follow strict confidentiality laws. However, there are certain situations, such as suspected abuse of a child, disabled person, or elderly person, where therapists are required to make a report.
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session will focus on gathering information and working together to set goals for therapy.
Am I allowed to ask personal questions?

The therapeutic relationship is different from a friendship.

In therapy, the focus is on you, the client. We aim to make the best use of your time by staying focused on what’s most helpful to you rather than discussing personal matters unrelated to your therapy.

Does anyone cry in front of you?
Yeah, it happens. In fact, tissues are one of our main office supplies!
Do I have to tell you everything?

You only need to share what you’re comfortable with. Your therapist is there to support you at your pace.
